Food

Mr. Roboto

Chicken is my all time comfort food but sushi rolls are definitely a competition. I’ve tried a few japanese restaurants which quite frankly, does not inspire me to write reviews (hence, the lack of food posts lately). However, my friends and I met up and ate here in Mr. Roboto which sparked forgotten love for reviews.

Ambiance

Mr. Roboto had a quirky and relaxed feel to it. It was quite small but the tables didn’t feel cramped. There were enough space for walking and you wouldn’t think that other people would eavesdrop in your conversations.

The restaurant had a nostalgic vibe to it with its design. The walls were filled with anime we loved as kids.

Spot the animes you watched before! The song Mr. Roboto even played in the background.

Price

The food was reasonable for their prices. It may be a little above average but I think the price is worth it.

Service

The staff were attentive but not annoying. They were able to answer our inquiries and was polite and patient. On top of that, Mr. Roboto provides an iPad for you to see photos of their products which is really helpful.

Food

Food was great. We were able to try 3 dishes and all of them did not disappoint.

This is one of those tuna on tuna kind of thing. Bottom layer is a cucumber roll, the second layer is negi tuna while the top layer is aburi (torched) tuna. This one was a bit spicy but was still tolerable even for me who has a low tolerance for spicy food.

This was their take on the classic california maki. It’s a cucumber roll topped with kani salad and crunchy maki. The crunchy maki was actually entertaining to eat. It’s one of the best california makis that I tried. Two thumbs up for this.

It’s a radish roll topped with spicy salmon and negi salmon with cream cheese and crispy salmon skin. It’s one of those “it’s too spicy but I will keep on eating because it’s good” kind of dishes. It has all the things that I dont like, raw and slimy salmon and spice but I would order this again if a friend shares it with me. Another thumbs up for this.

Overall thoughts

I’m glad I was able to try Mr. Roboto. My friends and workmates have been recommending this to me and it really did not disappoint. I would definitely go back and recommend to my friends. I can’t wait to try their rice bowls next.
